The Photo below was taken before the Borough acquired the building and shows it in need of some repair.  The Barnegat Light Coast Guard Station was established in 1855. Prior to the establishment of the Coast Guard, Lifesaving Station such as the Harvey Cedars Life Saving Station  and the Life Saving Station at  Holgate provided rescue services.

An example of a Motor Lifeboat/ cutter that was in use through most of the Post WWII years exists at the Tuckerton Seaport.

  1. Many years ago we stayed at Barnegut Light when my husband was Active Duty. Are active duty and/or retired CG personnel allowed to stay on base any longer? For a couple of nights in August of this year. We stayed in visitors quarters. Thank you.
