Dining Review of the Yellow Fin in Surf City

Kyle's Review
The Yellow Fin is a small upscale restaurant at the northern end of Surf
City. The restaurant’s décor is simple. Two of the walls are fully mirrored
which gives an illusion of a much larger room.
We arrived at 7pm on a Tuesday and were seated promptly. We had reservations.
There were only two other tables occupied at the time.
We started off with their onion bread and bean paste. Yellow Fin is BYOB.
They don’t have a children’s menu. Our son ordered the steamed dumpling
appetizer but it was a bit too spicy for him. He ordered a simple buttered
pasta.
For an appetizer, I tried their crabcake. It was a decently sized cake. The
crabcake itself wasn’t spicy but the coleslaw underneath was.
For the main course, I ordered the scallops. They were served with a ‘hay’.
Dessert was their chocolate Lava cake which is a small round chocolate cake with
a molten chocolate center. Excellent!!. I liked their dessert menu in that they
offered two sizes of some of their deserts such as the Belgian chocolate mousse.
The clientele was pretty well dressed. While it is casual dining, men were
wearing collared shirts and dress pants instead of jeans and shorts.
Service was excellent. The waiters worked as a team and were very
accommodating.
Kiki's review
Yellow Fin is a casual eatery with white tablecloths and candle light. Very
attentive service. They had excellent onion butter bread served with whipped
black bean spread – excellent. I tried the steamed dumplings in a ginger sauce –
best ever – the noodles were very thin. Next I had rigatoni with lobster in a
vodka cheese sauce – very good. For dessert I had lemongrass crème brulee and
Belgian mocha pudding – so scrumptious.
